Learning about SolarGuard® Convinced Us To Switch to
Stahlin Non-Metallic Composite Enclosures
Doyle Ptak Procurement Manager Ferguson Beauregard

For more than 25 years Ferguson Beauregard has been in the forefront of innovative solutions for oil and gas production technology, ranging from self-contained plunger lift systems and electronic controllers to fully integrated remotely managed production systems. As a company, we are always looking for new ways to produce a better product at a reduced cost. Consequently, when we began the process of re-evaluating our existing line of metallic enclosures used to house and protect our controls, we became very interested in exploring the benefits of non-metallic composite products offered by Stahlin Non-Metallic Enclosures.

The suggestion of possibly converting to non-metallics faced real challenges within Ferguson Beauregard because once before we had tried unsuccessfully to switch from a stainless steel enclosure to a composite enclosure. The earlier effort to convert failed because even though we were saving money the integrity of the non-metallic option was comprised by degradation caused by exposure to UV radiation. As a result, many of our customers return the enclosure after a short time in the field. It was not practical to repair these returned enclosures, so ultimately we returned to stainless steel.
As we studied Stahlin’s product line, however, we quickly became aware that significant improvements in the formulation of fiberglass compounds now reliably resist the damage caused by UV. Yet, we still felt we needed more proof. To further our ability to make a knowledge-based decision we decided to attend Stahlin Boot Camp --- the only nationally recognized educational program developed specifically to provide a comprehensive understanding of electrical enclosure technologies, enhanced corrosion prevention and detailed insights into the successful applications of non-metallic enclosures.
