Stahlin Non-Metallic Enclosures Celebrated Eight Years of No Loss Time Incidents

Stahlin Non-Metallic Enclosures, manufacturer of the world's most frequently specified fiberglass enclosure products, recently celebrated eight consecutive years of having no loss time incidents.  Stahlin’s consistent record reflects the effective safety practices and commitment to providing a work environment in which safety is not compromised. To fulfill that commitment, a company-wide development team defined and created SHIELD—the safety initiative followed by Stahlin employees.  SHIELD stands for: Safety – Habits – Interaction – Education – Lifestyle – Diligence.
The policies, practices and procedures of SHIELD reflect the importance Stahlin places on individual knowledge and accountability in the work environment. Each Stahlin team member must remain committed to SHIELD and be responsible for his or her own personal safety, as well as the safety of all team members.

Cindy Stowell, SHIELD Team Member, Stahlin Non-Metallic Enclosures, stated, “When Stahlin started to put the team together, five employees were selected to give input and design an effective safety plan. The development team wanted to allow workers from the floor to run the program because they know what is necessary to be safe in their working environment more than anyone. For Stahlin to involve employees in the making of SHIELD, it gives everyone in the work environment a sense of ownership for themselves and other workers on the floor. I am very proud to be a part of this team.”
In addition to the SHIELD program, Stahlin Non-Metallic Enclosures has many company practices leading to an 11-year streak "West Michigan's 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For". The 101 Best and Brightest awards are presented by the Michigan Business & Professional Association (MBPA) and recognize companies for the strategies they implement to create the best human resource practices for their employees.
